Themed Days….An Old Game Still Continues…

1 Mar

So rewind about a year ago, Vanessa and I were elementary school teachers in AZ. Being teachers and trying to be stylish at work did not always go hand in hand. We both decided in an effort to try different things with our wardrobe and spice up the workplace, we created “themed days”. It made getting dressed for work fun and put a little pep in our step. Example: Dress like a rock star – We rocked jeans, pumps, and leather blazers. Preppy day- Polo oxfords and knee-high socks…yes please! . You get the idea. Now this was sometimes a challenge because it could not a full-out costume (college theme party outfits don’t really scream professional). We still had to dress for the workplace with just a hint to the theme. This game made work outfits that much more fun in AZ and always made us smile. Now we are thousands of miles apart, the game lives on!!! Feeling the Sunday blues and uninspired when thinking of my outfit for Monday, I gchatted V to bring back themed days. She threw at me….. THE HAMPTONS….How do you think I did today?

We have plans to see a Broadway show, sip some americanos, and shop in SoHo! I need an outfit that is going to keep me warm, dry and still looking on point. This is what I am thinking of wearing…..stay tuned tomorrow it see the outfit come to life! 🙂

Just a little ditty for our male followers! As the weather is changing, layering is a must. You can wear the flannel by itself, with the cardi, or just the jacket. When you stick with the same color palette, you can mix and match throughout your day. I tried to mix in some more expensive classic with cheaper trendy pieces. 🙂 PS-The shoes are a fall favorite!

Neutrals with a Pop of Color!

    23 Nov

Today was a just another day in the life of Ms. F, the first grade teacher. Here in NYC the weather is up and down, chilly in the morning and then warms up all day. Therefore, layering is a must. On the subway, I wore a black wool coat by H & M paired with a multi-colored scarf.  This is how I made it all work today.

Today’s Clothes: – Leggings -Gap, Long white oxford -Top Shop, Boots-Steve Madden, Sweater-SAKs, Belt-borrowed from roommate,

    Today’s Agenda:

Work-First Graders need to learn how to read, write, and all about Thanksgiving!

Dinner- I wanted an outfit that would take me from school to dinner with my roommates parents in the West Village.

Layers and a Pop of Color

    15 Nov

Phoenix weather is BEYOND annoying right now…hot, cold, hot, cold, cloudy, hot, sunny, cold. What’s a girl to do?! Layer up. The shoes shown here will keep your outfit looking a bit dressier even after you’ve shed the jacket and then ditched the scarf. And when the clouds roll back in…well, you know what to do.

    In New York!

It is getting chilly here in New York, so layering is a must! However, there is no need to look frumpy. I love knee high boots this season and fun tights to match. Cheers to Fall 🙂

Cheap Basics and High End Splashes

    24 Sep

    (jeans, jacket, tshirt, shoes, watch)

The clothes here are pretty basic and – bonus – affordable without looking cheap. To add a touch of spice, I ask you to splurge with me. “Holy crap” is what you may be thinking, but there are three great things about these splurges: 1) You can’t go wrong with Tory Burch and Michael Kors in terms of quality 2) gold is classic and versatile 3) the shoes can probably found somewhere like Last Chance. When do I wear this look you ask? My answer: when don’t you?! Maybe it’s just me, but I like to rock this look shopping, brunching, casual Fridaying at work, etc.

    A Royal Houndstooth

    24 Sep

    (skirt, jacket, shoes, ring)

Love this houndstooth skirt. I own the Target knock-off that I think may actually be a bit more amaze because of how much structure it has. The way this houndstooth is done it adds a lot of texture without the intensity of a traditional black and white hounds. Add your fave royal color under the jacket by way of a tucked in top and voila!
